59 deported home to Nigeria from Spain.
Fifty-nine Nigerians, on the 20th of August were deported to Nigeria from Spain through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos following a recent nationwide raid by the national police of Spain on suspected immigrants residing in Spain who must have in one way or the other involved in a criminal act against the law of their land.
The deportees, comprising 50 males and nine females were flown into the country aboard an Air Europa aircraft.
The Public Relations Manager of the Nigerian Immigration Service at the airport, Mr Bashir Abdulkadir, told NAN that 55 of the deportees were guilty of immigration-related offences while four were deported for criminal offences.
The deportees on arrival were interrogated by law enforcement agents who transported the ones without criminal offences to the Hajj Camp of the airport where they were expected to proceed to their home states to re-join their families.
Those with criminal records were however, taken away for further interrogation
Nigerian woman died of swine flu
Over eleven lives has been terminated in Spain by the deadly disease known as swine flu at the time of writing this article.
The first incident of this deadly atom which was recorded in Spain was the case of a Morrocan woman by the name Dalilah, on the 30th of June after undergoing an emergency caesarean at the Gregorio Marañon Hospital in Madrid.
Ever since, the deadly disease victims has grown in numbers. One of the victims was a Nigerian woman, aged 33 who reside in Palma de Mallorca. She is the only Nigerian citizen here in Spain who has been hit by the virus. The Ministry of Health informed of the death, citing respiratory complication related to the swine flu virus. The Lloret de Mar resident, was admitted at the Hospital Josep Trueta in Girona on August 2nd. It was alleged that the patient had a variety of cronic illnesses prior to becoming infected with the virus.
The Ministry of Health has informed the public, that from Autumn onwards there will be vaccines against the A/H1N1 virus for 40 per cent of the population, with preference to be given to health workers, pregnant women and those younger than 14 years-old.
