Spanish Visa from Nigeria | Requirements and How to Apply

Applying for a Spanish Visa from Nigeria for the purpose of visit.

You can apply for a short term (maximum 90 days) Spanish visa for the purpose of

  • Tourism
  • Family Visit
  • Conference attendance
  • Sport Event attendance

This visa is solely for the purpose of leisure travel including vacationing, cruising, sightseeing and other recreational activities. If during any portion of their visit to Spain the applicant intends to engage in business, or official duties he/she must refer to other relevant visa sections.

This category of visa caters for people wishing to stay in Spain for a period maximum 3 months and may be applied if the person does not have a guarantor in Spain and buys a tour in a travel agency, or make a booking of tickets and hotel.

Applicant will have to provide evidence that he/she falls under this category.


The visa fee is around NGN 19,700 for adults and NGN 11,500 for children between 6-12, while all children below 6 will not be charged.

Please Note:

  • The visa fee in Naira is as per current exchange rate. It is subject to change without notice.
  • There is a service charge of NGN 5,100 Nairas levied per application over and above the visa fees. (Service charge NGN 5,100 Nairas Inclusive of VAT).
  • All payments are to be paid in cash at the centre.
  • Visa Fee and service charge to be paid at Bank Implant inside BLS centre. Kindly carry the applicant’s 1st page Passport photocopy while paying the service fee and the visa fee at the bank
  • Child less than 6 years of age applying for short term visa is exempted from paying visa fee as well from service fees.
  • Children between the age of 6 years to 12 years will pay visa processing fee of NGN 11,500 Nairas
  • The above BLS Service Charge and visa processing fee are non-refundable and non-transferable. For any exceptional case, kindly contact BLS centre in Lagos

The checklist must be submitted on back to back format only (without back to back copies being stapled to each other).

Application form should either be filled with blue or black pen or type-filled.



APPLICATION FORM: Application for Schengen Visa.

Original Application form for Schengen Visa duly filled in and signed by the applicant in blue or black ball point ink. 2 recent photographs (35-45 mm) of the applicant with white background must be attached in the application form. The application form must be correctly filled, facilitating all the possible information requested in the form including postal address, email address and telephone number. Please note with effect from 01 April 13, Embassy of Spain has instructed that Sworn Declaration is mandatory to be provided along Visa Application form at the time of submission.

The application should be submitted personally at the BLS International Services centre

Passport of the applicant with at least 3 blank pages, which should be valid for at least three months after the duration of intended stay. This document should have been issued in the last Five (5) years.

In case of minors (below 18 years), the application form must be signed by both the parents. Photocopies of passports of both the parents, attested by notary public, must be attached. In case parents does not have passports then they need to provide a government ID proof having signatures.

In case the minor (below 18 years), is accompanied by either of the parents, a no objection affidavit must be submitted

Two recent photographs of the applicant with white background. Face must be bold in the photographs.

Covering letter from the applicant, explaining in detail the purpose of the visit. All cover letters must include details of any other accompanying persons as well. This includes family members, friends or business associates travelling for the same purpose.


  1. Invitation letter issued by “Policia Nacional de España”. (submit in original along with a photocopy )
  2. Attested copy of the passport and the DNI or residence card of the person living in Spain.


  1. Hotel bookings for the entire duration of stay.
  2. Travel itinerary for the entire duration of stay.

ORIGINAL PERSONAL BANK STATEMENTS of the applicant for last 3 months is required for submission at the Consulate General of Spain, Nigeria with the original stamp and signature of authorized signatory of the bank (Online Bank statements without original stamp and signature are not acceptable).This is a mandatory statement

Salary slips for last three months.

Proof of travel insurance with a minimum coverage of 30,000 Euros to cover any expense which might arise in connection with repatriation for medical reasons, urgent medical attention and /or emergency hospital treatment. The insurance must be valid throughout the territory of the Member States. The duration of the insurance cover must include the entire period of stay and additionally fifteen days more after the proposed date of departure out of the Schengen territory.

Applicants are informed that travel medical insurance issued only by Nigerian insurance companies would be accepted for visa procedures. However, visa applicants may seek to obtain insurance in any other country where claims against the insurance company would be recoverable in a Schengen state.

Flight bookings.

Any other document that the applicant may consider appropriate to support his/her application.
Authorization form signed in original by the applicant, in favour of BLS International Services

  • To submit the application on behalf of the applicant.
  • To receive any notification issued by the Embassy of Spain/Consulate General of Spain.
  • To collect the passport on behalf of the applicant.
  • In case of minors, this form must be signed by both the parents.

If the applicant is not a national of Nigeria, his/her legal residence in the country (Residence permit) will be required.

For Family visa applications applicants are requested to submit proof of family relations with the principal applicant as an additional document with the visa application, for example

For Spouse – Marriage certificate

For Children – Birth certificate

BLS International will accept a photocopy of the document after verifying with the original at the time of submission.

With regards to the documents submitted with the visa application such as the Marriage certificate and Birth certificate of family visa applications, documents only in English language or translated to Spanish will be acceptable for all files.

Kindly note that if the documents are in any regional language, they must be translated to English or Spanish by any language institute with official stamp and signature of the translation institute/agency.

Documents in regional languages such as Marriage certificate and Birth certificate will not be acceptable.


Please note the following essentials must be met by all applicants submitting their applications for visa:

6 months valid passport from the date of applying for Spanish visa is mandatory. Please note that the Consulate General of Spain does not accept additional pages inserted into passports. If you do not have a blank page to which a visa can be affixed, a new passport must be obtained before submitting your application.

Required Travel Insurance
A Travel medical insurance is compulsory for visitors to Spain and other Schengen states. The insurance must cover at least 30 000 Euros and include costs for medical treatment, hospitalization and repatriation due to injury or medical reasons.

The reimbursement from the insurance company must be payable in any EU-country, Switzerland and Lichtenstein.

The company issuing the insurance can be based anywhere but preferably you should use a company base in your home country or the country you are travelling to. The Embassy must assess whether the company is solid or not. For this purpose all Schengen Missions in Nigeria have compiled a list of trusted companies.

Please note that you have to bring your travel insurance with you when travelling due to inspections of relevant documents at the border control

Submission time is from 8:00 till 13:00. Last entry time inside the centre is 13:30

Processed passports can be collected from The Spanish Visa Application Centers between 13:00 -16:00. Applicants can instantly track the status of their application by clicking on Track your Application.

An application should in principle be lodged at least 15 working days before the intended visit and cannot be lodged earlier than TEN WEEKS before the start of the intended visit. It is an applicant’s own responsibility to take the necessary precautions in relation to the processing time, deadlines, etc.

Please note that possession of a Schengen visa does NOT guarantee entry into a Schengen state, and no rights can be derived from the information obtained in the general Schengen visa information.

Please provide one recent photograph (not more than 6 months old) of yourself, which should not have been used previously in the passport. The photograph should be in colour and:

  • Taken against white background so that features are distinguishable and contrast against the background.
  • Clear share quality and with the face in focus.
  • Printed on normal photographic paper (camera print).
  • Full face, non-smiling [without sunglasses, a hat/cap or other head covering, unless the applicant wears such items because of their religious belief or ethnic background]
  • Please stick the Photograph on the Visa Application Form.

Note: Please follow these instructions carefully. If photographs presented do not meet these requirements your application will be considered incomplete. A photo booth meeting these requirements is available at the centre..


Applications accepted at the Spain Visa Application Centre will be submitted on the next working day at the Embassy of Spain/Consulate General of Spain. Once the application has been submitted, the applicant can be further requested additional documentation in support of the same. Please note as per the instructions received from Embassy of Spain minimum processing time is 15 Calendar days (It may delay depending on case to case).

All applications must be submitted at least 15 days prior to the proposed date of travel to accommodate any unforeseen processing delays.

Kindly note if application submitted in Satellite centre, it may take up to 48-72 hours in transit to Lagos. All the applications received from Satellite centers will be sent to Embassy/Consulate on next working day

Processing time will start excluding the date of submission of application at BLS International Services.

Applicants submitting the applications with short processing time will be required to fill up the Declaration form.
